NEWS Ethics Advisory Notice: The Louisiana Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand Reporters (“CSR Board”) discussed at its October 15, 2008 meeting the need for enhanced ethics awareness among members of the court reporting profession. NOTICE Under Title 46, Part XXI. Certified Shorthand Reporters, Chapter 6. Continuing Education, Section 607. Maintenance of Record, (B.) On or before January 31 of each odd-numbered calendar year, each reporter issued a certificate by the board shall submit or cause to be submitted to the board a written record of continuing education credits earned by the reporter for the preceding calendar years.” The full set of official rules can be found on the FAQ page under number 12. End of the Year Notices from the Board Office: The 2009 licensing renewal invoices and information are currently being mailed. Please notice the date the c. e. statements were printed. You will receive a new c. e. statement once your c. e. credits have been entered. We ask that all renewals are mailed to the Board Office by November 28, 2008 to insure that you will receive your new 2009 stamp on or before January 1, 2009. It is the reporters responsibility to renew their license on or before December 31st of each year whether or not an invoice has been received. Please be aware that the board office experiences a very high volume of phone calls, email and mail at this time of year and we ask for your patience and understanding. We ask that you visit the reporter login page to update your personal information. Once you have updated your information then you will need to print and submit the Status Report with the exact same information on it for our records. All court reporters are to turn in their continuing education credits to the Board Office within 30 days after they have received confirmation of their attendance. All continuing education credits are due on every even numbered year. The Board Office will be closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day - January 1, 2009 JOB Announcement: JOB Announcement: JOB Announcement: Any C. C. R. who is 65 years of age or older will no longer have to obtain C. E. credits starting with the 2007-2008 C. E. cycle.

EVENTS MEETING NOTICE The next meeting of the Louisiana Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand Reporters will be held on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crown Plaza, 4728 Constitution Avenue, Riverboat Room, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The following seminars have been approved for the previous 2 year cycle of January 1, 2007 – December 31, 2008 only. These will be accepted for those CCR’s needing credits to satisfy the above 2 year cycle which shall be turned into the Board on or before January 30, 2009. *** Approved Seminars*** Note: If you find a seminar that complies with the rules that you would like to attend and receive c. e. credits for then you must submit the Agenda or outline and request prior approval. The C. E. Committee will review and get back to you. The Board has approved 2 seminars by Fred Pryor Seminars. You may find the seminar information and closest locations at www.pryor.com . 1. The MS EXCEL Spreadsheet Seminar for 0.6 CEU’s. You may only take this seminar if you have never taken EXCEL before. You must turn in the original certificate and keep a copy for your records. This will give you the needed 12 C. E. Credits. 2. Mistake-Free Grammar & Proofreading. You must turn in the original certificate and keep a copy for your records. Please check with the vendor and make sure that the seminar will be granted the needed 0.6 CEU’s. 1.
